
On the 7th of April 2025, the vibrant grounds of Daybridge International School came alive with the rich colors, joyous laughter, and meaningful rituals of the annual Sinhala–Tamil New Year celebration.This event was a heartwarming blend of culture, community, and youthful energy.
The day began with the Easter dance troupe performing a traditional dance and welcoming accompanied with the director board and management of the school and the ceremonial ritual of boiling milk began symbolizing overflowing prosperity, abundance and a fresh start to the new year.
The cultural performances were nothing short of breathtaking. Dressed in vibrant national attire, students performed Sinhala and Tamil dances that reflected the beauty of unity in diversity.
The day was filled with traditional dances and games which were unique to each class. The day concluded with the picking the winners of the Avurudu Kumara and Kumariya Primary and Secondary 2025.
What stood out the most was the sense of togetherness. Students from all backgrounds celebrated side by side reflecting Daybridge’s ethos of inclusivity and respect.
The Avurudu celebration was very traditional and refreshing to witness with it's fusion of culture and joy, it was a vibrant fusion of culture, joy and community - a memory.
